How do I get started, and do you have openings?

Please contact me to see if I have an opening. If you would like to schedule an appointment, I offer a complimentary 20-minute consultation to discuss your needs. To explore working together, schedule a free 20-minute Zoom consultation through the Contact page.

Where are you located?

I am located at 25 Imperial Ave, Westport, CT 06896. The office is right downtown, with shops and cafes nearby. I offer in-person sessions there on Mondays and Wednesdays, and virtual appointments for residents of New York and Connecticut. A few times a year, I also meet clients in NYC.

Do you offer online therapy? Is it as effective as in-person therapy?

Yes. Most of my practice prefers to meet on Zoom. During the COVID pandemic, therapists everywhere wondered about this, met with colleagues and attended workshops on working effectively and experientially online, and discovered — along with most clients — that therapy could be just as effective online as in person; research has supported this, showing similar outcomes between the two. That is not true for everyone: some people truly benefit more from in-person sessions, and many who were convinced they needed in-person therapy started that way and then came to prefer teletherapy. What can be lost in teletherapy is the quiet time for reflection and movement that comes from travelling to and from a therapy office; many of my clients compensate with a ritual such as a short walk, or coffee or tea at a local café, before and after sessions. I am happy to explore this with you on a free consultation call.

How much does therapy cost?

The current fee is $300 per weekly 50-minute individual session and $400 per 75-minute couples session. Rates may differ with frequency. My rates increase annually to reflect my ongoing advanced training.

Do you take insurance?

At this time, my practice is self-pay only. I am able to provide a monthly superbill that you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many plans may cover a portion of your costs if you have out-of-network benefits.

What should I ask my insurance company about out-of-network coverage?

Ask: Do I have out-of-network coverage for outpatient mental health benefits? If so, what portion of the fee is reimbursed? Is there a deductible, and if so, how much have I met so far? What is the process for submitting claims? For individual therapy, ask whether CPT code 90834 (50 minutes of individual therapy) is covered; for couples (family) therapy, ask whether CPT code 90847 (50 minutes of family therapy) is covered.

How long are sessions, and how often do we meet?

Couples psychotherapy is structured as a weekly 75-minute session, and individual psychotherapy as a weekly 50-minute session. My approach privileges meaningful and consistent progress, so I work with clients on a weekly basis, and reserve less frequent sessions — biweekly or monthly — for those transitioning toward the close of our work together.

How long does therapy take?

The duration of therapy varies for each individual and depends on your unique goals and reasons for seeking help. It is shaped by the goals you bring, the context of your life, and your dedication to the process.

What do I need to do before my first appointment?

To keep my practice paperless, you will receive an email with a link to your personal client portal before our first appointment. Please use the link to complete some forms and provide background information. This allows us to begin our work together efficiently.

Is therapy confidential?

Everything discussed in therapy is confidential. There are a few exceptions required by law, such as reporting abuse, threats of harm, or responding to a court order. Please ask if you have any concerns about confidentiality.

What issues do you work with?

I work with clients struggling with relational distress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and other concerns, and I also focus on personal development and navigating life transitions. Therapy offers a dedicated space to explore your concerns with a supportive professional, gain insight into patterns, heal from past wounds and discover your strengths. It is a valuable tool for building emotional resilience, enhancing relationships, and living authentically according to your values.

What if we are not the right fit?

My priority is supporting what is best for you, even if that means connecting you with another therapist. If you feel we are not the right match, I am glad to provide a trusted referral.
